Design Challenge:

An understanding of UI/UX/IxD is expected—i.e. research, data-informed decision-making, effective web writing, well-thought-out user experience, consistent and appropriate user interface, etc. This project also introduces the idea of responsive web design, which is a standard practice for any modern digital design project.

Imagine the following scenario. Thanks to a post you made on social media sharing one of your passion projects, you have been hired by a theme park to design a microsite that will work on both mobile devices and desktop or laptop computers. The goal of the site is to introduce people to a new attraction that will be launching soon. This attraction can be anything you might find or imagine at a theme park. It could be anything from a new roller coaster that goes into space, to a new line of plush toys for kids, or a new themed restaurant opening on the theme park's grounds.

You get to choose the theme park you want to design for (real or imagined), brainstorm and invent the attraction, and clearly define a goal for your site. You should be able to state this goal in one sentence.

Creative Solution:

My attraction allows for parents and young adults exploring the Dollywood theme park to sit back, relax and get a break from the rides and instead, take a ride through live musical bliss. Perhaps, while enjoying one of the dive bar’s many Dolly-themed cocktails, all named after her greatest hits. My design goals for this website were to establish basic information of what the location offers in terms of upcoming events and a beverage menu. To modernize the traditional Dollywood branding, I used the Dollywood butterfly to create a whole new modern icon that was able to hold the same story as the original design but gave it a new life as well. Through these sophisticated color and typography choices, I aimed to create a good place to hide amidst the wildness of the theme park.
